GRACE SLICK COMES TO SAN DIEGO DECEMBER 2011 TO SUPPORT MEDICAL MARIJUANA THROUGH HER OWN ARTWORK.

Alexander Salazar Fine Art Gallery in San Diego will be joined by rock star and artist Grace Slick, to unveil her 420 Collection. An exhibition of paintings by Slick to raise awareness on the issue of medical marijuana.

On December 3rd 2011 Grace Slick will be in attendance at San Diego's leading gallery Alex Salazar Fine Art. There she will be sharing with the public a large range of her artwork, along with her newest series of paintings the 420 Collection. This is a body of work by Slick addressing medical marijuana, the people who use it, and the politics around it.

Grace Slick beyond being known as both an icon of the 60's and the first female mega rock star, has gained a well deserved reputation for being outspoken on her many strong beliefs. So it comes as no surprise to anyone who has followed her long career that she has placed herself in the center of the controversial issue of the legislation of medical marijuana.

Her first avenue of artistic expression was through her musical career, with her band Jefferson Airplane (later Jefferson Starship). During their three decade span of recording and performing, they created some of rock 'n' roll's biggest hits, most notably White Rabbit (a song that reflected on societies relationship with the use of pharmaceuticals.) But since putting down the microphone in the mid 80's, Slick has spent the decades since expressing her voice through her paintings. Slick's works have over that time exhibited and sold in the nations leading galleries.

Along with her "420 Collections", the exhibition will feature a large selection of Slick's recent surrealist paintings and some of her best-known works, from her own painting archives. Collectively the shows curators feel this will prove to be an epic presentation of her works.

Grace Slick will be in attendance for both a private and public show on the same date. But it is highly recommended to call in advance to reserve a spot on the gallery's RSVP list.

Gallery Exhibition: Nov 15 - January 15
