Wood’s passion for expressing his art on canvas has been with him throughout his music career. The intermingling of his “arts” has resulted in a body of work full of deft glimpses of some of the most intriguing talents in rock history. A collection of Wood’s work is currently hanging at the Entertainment Gallery inside the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The collection features prints and originals of Wood’s Friends, ringing from the members of the band to Bob Dylan and Marvin Gaye. Put simply Wood’s artwork portrays an uncanny and often surreal representation of his subjects, and each carries with it a Story. Consider the portrait Wood did of Muhammad Ali. A huge boxing fan himself. Wood captured the boxer in all his glory and struck a deal for the luck y buyer of the original to be granted an audience with the champ.
Dan Mer owner of the Improvisation (the improv) in Tempe and an avid collector of Wood’s work, highly recommends a tour of the Entertainment Gallery. “I’ve been collecting his stuff for years.” Examined Mer. “Firstly, I love rock ‘n’ roll. Secondly, I love the Rolling Stones. Ron Wood knows the subjects of his work in such an intimate way that he truly captures their spirit. |
