Sebastian Kruger Paints His Good Friend Slash

Step into the living room of Slash's home, and the first thing your eyes will likely be drawn to is the proudly-displayed portrait of his wife, Perla, painted by his longtime friend, artist Sebastian Kruger. 

Kruger does not know most of the subjects he sets his brush on. But yet, with his masterful painting skills, he has an ability to bring out the very marrow of their distinct character and soul. From in-depth observation, great study, and then led by his almost eerie instincts, he can isolate the subtle humanity they possess. Then from the depths of his canvas, with nothing more than a brush in hand, he is able to conjure, a portrait that makes the tiny hairs on the back of your neck stand up and applaud – all without the luxury of "knowing" them.

But that is clearly not the case here, as Sebastian and Slash have enjoyed a friendship for many years. It is the knowledge that only a friend can possess that comes through so clearly in this latest limited edition by Sebastian. 

Kruger has produced an amazing painting of the man who is considered to be the most recognizable rock guitarist in the world. From Kruger, this is no surprise. But what makes this painting particularly special is that it contains the comfort and loving familiarity that can only come from an old friend. From this close perspective, Kruger has captured the playful warmth and humor that is at the core of this guitar-slinging rock icon. In one painting, he's delivered to us a sense of Slash that would otherwise take a lifetime of friendship.
